Dr. Manuel Ramirez has his practice located in Pavía Hospital - Arecibo, Puerto Rico.

MEET YOUR DOCTOR

Now that Dr. Ramírez has completed his training in Minnesota, he is elated to be returning to Puerto Rico to serve the community of Arecibo and the people on the island. Dr. Ramírez González wants to establish a relationship of transparency and trust with his patients for them to have full understanding of their spine health, and to provide them with the necessary tools and knowledge on treatment options. The goal is to provide the least invasive, yet effective treatment possible for patients, with the realization that in most cases, surgery can be avoided all together. 

Dr. Ramírez González currently specializes in the treatment of all spinal disorders, with a particular interest and expertise in both minimally invasive spine surgery, as well as complex spinal deformity and revision procedures. His mission is to provide cutting-edge surgical techniques with the least invasive possible procedure to alleviate the patient’s spinal condition, minimize postoperative pain and medication usage, while ensuring the tenants of spine surgery are followed to provide the best possible outcome and promote quick recovery and rehabilitation. 

He continues to have active interest in the advancement of the field, being actively involved in research, with multiple publications including journal articles, presentations and review articles.

EDUCATION

Dr. Ramírez González graduated with high honors from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Molecular Biology. He subsequently received his Medical Degree from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus, graduating in the top 10% of his class and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) National Medical Honor Society, as well as the President of the Student Council of Medicine. 

Dr. Ramírez González then graduated from the University of Puerto Rico Orthopedic Residency Program, serving as Chief Resident in his final year.  During this time, he trained at the Trauma Medical Center, the biggest and busiest trauma center in the Caribbean, providing extensive experience in case mix index, an indicator of the complexity of cases performed. Following his orthopedic residency, he pursued further training in Spine Surgery at the Twin Cities Spine Center, completing the John H. Moe Fellowship Program, an internationally renowned program responsible for the training of many of the current leaders in the field.
